Base Neck (BN)
Band 2 of 11 on the Encave Bordeaux-shouldered scale v1, where band 1 is into the neck. Band rows in this diagram are evenly spaced and are not to scale.
Excellent for any age (Sotheby's, Tennants). This bottle is about 15 years old.
Fill level cannot tell you how the bottle was stored. One hot shipment can cost more fill than thirty years of cellaring.

Half bottle, base neck. Capsule shows light handling marks at the lip.
Where a part says “not assessed”, nobody has recorded it. Other auction houses treat a blank as the best grade — one states in its own glossary that an unindicated fill level means base of neck or higher. Encave does not. Ask the seller before bidding.
